XMap is ideally suited as a GIS for municipal data management and it has opened the door to GIS for countless towns and local government agencies. This map shows a combination of XMap tools employed to create a digital tax parcel layer. Image registration is used to overlay scanned paper maps; the GIS buffer tool creates road and right-of-way polygons of a consistent width; the straightforward CAD tools are used to trace the overlaid maps; and XMap’s new edge-matching tool ensures that adjacent polygons are perfectly aligned.
