Sales Tax

What you are charged

Applicable state and local sales taxes will be calculated at the time of shipping. This will apply to orders shipped to all US states*.

*DeLorme does not charge sales tax for shipments to customers in Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, or Oregon. These states do not have a sales tax at this time. DeLorme also does not charge sales tax in Alaska (local).

Why do you charge sales tax?

Due to an expanded national presence, DeLorme is required by law to collect and submit all applicable state and local sales taxes. These sales taxes are based specifically on the state, city, and county to which your purchase is shipped, and are the same as those you pay locally for goods.

Why can't you tell me what the tax is on my purchase when I place my order?

Sales tax rates do change from time to time at the State, County, and City levels. Tax is calculated at the time of shipping (not at the time you placed the order) to ensure the most current, up-to-date taxes are being collected. Standard business practice is not to record an invoice until the product is shipped or delivered. That is why you were not quoted a price which included sales tax information. You can review final credit card charges, including Sales Tax, in your online Order History, after the item(s) has shipped.

You may now look up the final charged amount of your order, including tax, on delorme.com. There is a convenient link to Your Order History at the top of the site. The Order Details link will display the final charges after the item has shipped.
