Lt. Chris Grotton - IMAT Commander, Maine State Police
In an emergency situation, an immediate and efficient response is critical. Mapping is always an important component in the response to, and management of large scale incidents.
John Combs - Geologist, Cran Combs
I use XMap, SAT 10 data and 3-D TopoQuads for mapping oil wells, oil storage tanks, gas lines, and service roads that I located on site with a GPS. This aids us in obtaining drilling permits and in preparation of Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) reports. I have also used these tools for marking test bore holes and sample locations for mining industrial minerals.
Bill Hughes - Pipeline Supervisor, Black Hills Operating Co., LLC
We use XMap for our mapping system as a pipeline company. We use 3-D TopoQuad data for the areas our corridor runs through. We can overlay our previous GPS programs from older DeLorme applications and make new additions as they occur nicely. XMap helps us stay in compliance with the regulations that are applicable to mapping and documenting changes in our pipeline systems.
Gary Vorgert - Draftsman, Survey Industry
We use XMap along with the SAT 10 imagery to plot preliminary and as-built pipeline surveys, proposed oil well locations and as-built well location plats, for local oil companies. These companies in turn use this information to show state and federal agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service their proposals.
Matthew Meares - Project Engineer, Southeastern Winds LLC
I use XMap to complete initial electrical and road designs for wind farm projects. I use the 3-D TopoQuads to calculate grades for the roads. For the electrical systems I use XMap to calculate footages for the cable runs. I recently used the Aerial Data Packet (ADP) downloads to very quickly layout roads for a site in California. This was a very time-sensitive project and I would not have had time to wait for the 3-D TopoQuad CD to arrive in the mail or do an actual survey.
Buz Steele - Construction Specialist, Natural Gas Pipeline Industry
I use XMap for routing pipelines, locating areas of concern, and mapping roads that may be used to gain access to the pipeline. I use 3-D TopoQuads, ADP datasets, tax maps, and aerial photographs. The Image Registration Module is an invaluable tool for me. I started with 3-D TopoQuads and have used every version of XMap since XMap Geographic. The use of these products began as a hobby for me, but working as a consultant now, I don't see how I could get along without them. XMap is a great product and support is also great. Keep it up.
