Modules = Fast Prototyping + Cost Effective
Highly Integrated GPS Solution
DeLorme GPS modules contain a complete GPS positioning system in one surface mount package. This makes it very easy to adopt GPS navigation or positioning into your system design with a minimum of effort and cost. The module has an RF input to connect the antenna, and inside the module is a LNA (low Noise Amplifier) and SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) filter to boost the received signal and isolate the target signal frequency. We've also embedded the power regulation to improve the sensitivity and performance of the GPS receiver.
Embedded RF Section
By embedding the RF section onto the module, DeLorme eliminates the complexity of the RF design. Often considered a form of 'sorcery', the RF design is the most difficult part of the circuit to implement correctly without the proper expertise. A poor RF design can severely limit performance competitiveness, but DeLorme has eliminated that concern.
Compact SMD package
The 16x16mm module is in a 40-pin surface mount device with a metal shielded lid to isolate the components from electrical noise. The package can easily be assembled onto your circuit boards using automated assembly and solder equipment.
Standard Output NMEA sentences
The module outputs produce standard NEMA output strings from a TTL level output pin. This output can be shifted for RS-232 interfaces or USB applications.
Evaluation Kit/Reference Design
DeLorme offers a standard evaluation kit to demonstrate the use and performance of our GPS receiver modules. It also functions as a reference design by representing how easily a GPS system can be created using a DeLorme GPS module. (Refer to the "Evaluation Kit" tab for more details.)
Low Power Consumption
The module consumes a minimum of power, making it ideal for use in battery powered portable systems. Standby Mode further reduces power consumption.
